About fifteen years ago,  I found myself working with a lovely family who had an eleven year old who had threatened to stab their mother, was running away regularly and was refusing to attend school. Family members were desperate and were considering giving the child up for voluntary accommodation with the local authority.  We worked together for some time using social work person centred and solution focussed interview techniques, and I started to feel I was only partially succeeding in supporting this family.

I began a process of researching what other approaches were available, to give me and this family some more tools that could be an answer to both of our problems. My need to support the family in a way that was effective, and their need to see a quick turnaround in their desperate situation.

I came across the Nurtured Heart Approach™ , by Howard Glasser. This was a fantastic approach and actually does what is claimed. Within two weeks the family had seen a positive change in their relationship, and after six weeks the home environment was a completely different place, a year later the child was the highest achiever in their year, and has since gone to university.

I owe this family so much, as due to the phenomenal changes that occurred I went on to become a certified advanced practitioner in the Nurtured Heart Approach ®.

Just as it changed their lives, and many others since, it can change yours.

In addition to my social work qualification I have since supplemented this approach to become a Theraplay ™ level 2 practitioner, and I have studied with Dan Hughes and am able to offer Attachment Focussed Family Therapeutic practice. In addition if you are interested in sampling Equine Facilitated Learning I also completed training with Eagala Level one and the Greg Kirsten’s OK Corral Series working with young people.

I offer personalised support whatever your parenting needs, in a light-hearted manner to uplift the soul and affect positive change that can last you and your family a lifetime.

I have also utilised the approached with adults who have often been to counselling, and who are still looking to find confidence, peace, and to work out their relationship or mental health difficulties.
